Overview
Musculoskeletal complaints are among the most common reasons children and adolescents seek medical care, yet many pediatric musculoskeletal conditions remain challenging to recognize and manage. Delayed diagnosis can lead to unnecessary morbidity, while appropriate early evaluation and referral can improve outcomes. This interactive course provides clinicians with a practical, evidence-based approach to the assessment and management of pediatric musculoskeletal conditions encountered in primary care, urgent care, sports medicine, emergency medicine, and specialty practice. Through expert-led lectures, case discussions, and clinical pearls, participants will strengthen their skills in musculoskeletal examination, differential diagnosis, imaging interpretation, and treatment planning. Topics will include common orthopedic and sports-related injuries, gait abnormalities, fractures, overuse conditions, hip and knee pain, spine disorders, developmental conditions, and recognition of red flags that warrant urgent evaluation or specialty referral. Faculty from pediatric orthopedics, sports medicine, rheumatology, radiology, and related disciplines will provide multidisciplinary perspectives to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient care. Participants will leave with practical tools that can be immediately applied in clinical practice to improve the evaluation, management, and outcomes of children and adolescents with musculoskeletal concerns.

Objectives
As a result of the education, I intend to:

  1. Apply current evidence-based approaches to the evaluation and management of common pediatric musculoskeletal conditions and sports-related injuries.
  2. Perform focused musculoskeletal assessments and identify clinical findings that guide appropriate diagnostic testing, treatment, rehabilitation, and timely specialty referral.
  3. Develop individualized, evidence-based rehabilitation and return-to-activity plans that promote safe participation and recovery for children and adolescent athletes.
  4. Implement interdisciplinary communication and care coordination strategies to improve referrals, optimize use of available resources, and provide consistent, patient- and family-centered musculoskeletal care.
