EPEC-Pediatrics has become the most comprehensive pediatric palliative care (PPC) curriculum and dissemination project world-wide. To date 2500 clinicians from 114 countries/territories from all 6 continents have undergone our training. The EPEC-Pediatrics curriculum features state-of-the-art training in the skills required to address key domains of pediatric palliative care, including advanced pain and symptom management. Individuals who want to further enhance their teaching and leadership skills are also welcome to attend.

Objectives
As a result of the education, I intend to:

  2. Experience and reflect on three key teaching modalities to change behavior of PPC learners: "Interactive Lecture", "Case Examples", and "Role Play”
  3. Understand how self-care is a core competency in palliative and end of life care
  4. Describe key components of an effective interactive lecture: “One Thing”, “Hook”, “Attitude”, “Knowledge”, and “Skill”
  5. Discuss the concept of pediatric multimodal analgesia
  6. Develop a step-by-step treatment approach for neuropathic pain, including pharmacologic (opioids, non-opioids, adjuvants), rehabilitative, procedural and integrative medicine approaches
  7. Understand and practice ways to elicit goals of care and to discuss advanced care planning
  8. Describe the essential components of good care at the very end of life
