Overview

This is a unique one-day audience-interactive microscopy-based course on diagnostic pathology of biopsy specimens of gynecological and breast disease.  Learners will be given online access to digital slides of 75 cases to preview independently in advance of the conference.  The conference format consists of presentation of the digital slide of each case (15 cases per session) with open discussion and questions encouraged from the audience for each case.  The course will address practical issues in classification and reporting, emphasizing dilemmas, pitfalls and areas of controversy.   The gynecological pathology topics will include endometrial biopsies (epithelial, mesenchymal, trophoblastic, and inflammatory pathology), cervical biopsies (squamous and glandular pathology), vulvar biopsies (neoplastic and non-neoplastic pathology).  The breast pathology topics will include epithelial, mesenchymal and mixed epithelial-mesenchymal pathology in biopsies. Learners have the option to obtain additional CME credit for pre-conference previewing of the cases.

Objectives
As a result of the education, I intend to:

  1. Apply current morphological criteria to classification of diseases commonly presenting in gynecological and breast biopsy specimens
  2. Select and interpret clinically relevant biomarkers to assist with disease classification in gynecological and breast biopsy specimens
  3. Recognize key prognostic and predictive features that merit reporting in diseases diagnosed in gynecological and breast biopsy specimens
