Overview
This unique interdisciplinary conference is created for providers who care for children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities and complex health care needs. The activity will address ways to improve the quality of care provided to patients from perspectives that will benefit all members of the care team.

Objectives
As a result of the education, I intend to:

  1. Improve systems of care for people with disabilities by considering social and cultural diversity and disparities, structural bias, and implications for access to quality healthcare.
  2. Improve interprofessional teamwork and community collaboration to effectively address gaps in care for people with developmental disabilities.
  3. As a result of my participation in the Activity, I intend to analyze how federal, regional, and state policies influence access to care for adults with developmental disabilities and identify strategies to reduce disparities in healthcare delivery.
  4. Discuss the role of environmental health and skills for assuring sexual health in children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities.
  5. List key tasks to optimize health care outcomes for people with disabilities and their families as they age.
  6. Review the range of novel and evidence-based approaches to the care of patients with autism, cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental disabilities.
  7. Review factors related to access to quality mental health care, and employ trauma-informed relational care.
  8. Discuss strategies to enable participation in the arts and access resources, such as service animals, to support the wellbeing of children, youth and adults with disabilities.
