Overview

The California Child and Adolescent Mental Health Access Portal (Cal-MAP) provides real-time, peer-to-peer child psychiatry consultative guidance to primary care providers for youth with mental and behavioral health concerns. This curriculum consists of recordings of the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences monthly webinar series, which provides practical, clinically oriented education on common mental/behavioral health conditions in children/adolescents for pediatric primary care providers. These recordings have been made available on-line for asynchronous learning for those who cannot attend the live sessions.

Method of Participation/ Instructions for Obtaining Credit

Participants should view the recorded webinar (streaming or downloading the .mp4 file), answer the multiple-choice test questions, and complete the evaluation form online to receive a certificate. You must receive a score of 100% or better to earn a certificate. You will have an unlimited number of attempts to successfully complete the post-test. A certificate will be available immediately for print or download upon completion of each module and recorded on your transcript for the entire curriculum.


Objectives

At the end of this activity, the participant should be able to:


  1. Make common psychiatric diagnoses within my own practice with greater confidence or frequency than before.
  2. Incorporate measurement-based care and psychosocial/developmental context into diagnostic evaluation and ongoing management of pediatric mental health conditions.
  3. When appropriate, initiate, monitor, manage, and taper evidence-based psychotropic medications for common mental health conditions (e.g., stimulants for ADHD, SSRIs for depression/anxiety), within my own practice.
  4. Improve psychoeducation for patients and parents/caregivers regarding pediatric mental health, behavior, and development.
  5. Refer patients/families to evidence-based psychotherapy and community/school-based services as part of collaborative treatment planning, with greater knowledge than before.

ACCME Credit:

Physicians: UCSF Office of CME designates this live Activity for a maximum of 18.0 AMA PRA Category 1™ Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate to their participation in the activity.

Advance Practice Registered Nurses and Registered Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that the AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.

California Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA category 1 CreditTM. If you are a pharmacist in another state, you should check with your state board for approval of this credit.

California Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts for continuing education credit courses that are provided by entities approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM is acceptable to meeting the CE requirements for the California Board of Psychology. Providers in other states should check with their state boards for acceptance of CME credit.


Advanced Practice Nursing (ANCC Credit): UCSF Office of CME designates this Activity for a maximum of 18.00 ANCC contact hours.


Maintenance of Certification (MOC) / Continuing Certification

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 18 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting any of the MOC credits listed above. Your ABP diplomate number and your month and day of birth must be completed in your profile to claim MOC/CC points.
