Point of Care Ultrasound for the Hospitalist (Advanced Track)

The Advanced Track is designed for those with prior exposure to and skills in POCUS that want to bring their skillset to the next level and/or be POCUS educators. It will focus on mastering basic pocus exams, adding acquisition, interpretation and clinical integration for more advanced exams & interpretation (e.g Cardiac Output/VTI, Valves, VEXUS, etc), and develop POCUS teaching skills across a variety of POCUS devices. To achieve this it use a small group format with interactive didactics and workshops alternating with scanning skill sessions.

1. Apply the fundamental principles of ultrasound technology and perform basic operation across a broad range of Point of Care Ultrasound Devices
2. Demonstrate mastery of basic POCUS exam acquisition & interpretation and the ability to teach these skills to novice POCUS users
3. Utilize techniques to perform advanced POCUS examinations at the bedside, including those of the heart, lungs, and major abdominal organs
4. Recognize the benefits and limitations of more advanced POCUS ultrasound exams and protocols, in light of the clinical utility and limitations of bedside ultrasound imaging
5. Practice advanced interpretation of normal and abnormal ultrasound images

ACCME Credit:

Physicians: UCSF Office of CME designates this live Activity for a maximum of 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1™ Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the the credit commensurate to their participation in the activity.

Advance Practice Registered Nurses and Registered Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.

California Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA category 1 Credit^TM. If you are a pharmacist in another state, you should check with your state board for approval of this credit.

California Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts for continuing education credit courses that are provided by entities approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM is acceptable to meeting the CE requirements for the California Board of Psychology. Providers in other states should check with their state boards for acceptance of CME credit.

Advanced Practice Nursing (ANCC Credit): UCSF Office of CME designates this Activity for a maximum of 15.25 ANCC contact hours.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) MOC for Physicians: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC points. Attendees must have their ABIM information entered into their CloudCME Profile and complete the course evaluation within 30 days of the activity completion in order to receive MOC credit.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing at least 30 days before the conference start date will receive a refund of registration fees minus a [10%] administrative fee. Requests received between 30 days and 14 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the start date. Please send cancellation requests through our Refund Request form.
