We are delighted to invite you to the UCSF Liver Transplantation Update 2026, a two-day continuing medical education (CME) program that has been a marquee event of the UCSF Liver Transplant Program for more than two decades. Each year, this course brings together world-renowned transplant surgeons and hepatologists from UCSF to share the latest research, clinical advances, and practical insights in the dynamic field of liver transplantation. The 2026 program will highlight today’s most pressing and significant issues in liver transplantation through focused lectures, case-based discussions, and interactive panels. Key topics will include frailty and nutritional status in transplant decision-making, therapeutic approaches and challenges in MASLD (metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease), management of hepatocellular carcinoma with a Tumor Board panel discussion, and case-based debates on TIPS versus no TIPS in the management of portal hypertension. Additional sessions will cover clinical pearls in the management of alcohol use disorder and related liver disease, as well as updates on the treatment of hepatitis B and C. These discussions aim to provide attendees with practical tools and evidence-based knowledge to address complex scenarios in liver transplantation. Multidisciplinary aspects of care—including pharmacy, psychosocial support, and long-term management of transplant recipients—will also be emphasized, reflecting the comprehensive nature of transplantation. This course is tailored for community hepatologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, trainees, and all clinicians who are involved in or interested in liver transplantation. Attendees will leave with up-to-date, clinically relevant knowledge that can be readily applied in practice. In addition to cutting-edge content, the UCSF Liver Transplantation Update 2026 provides a unique opportunity to engage with UCSF faculty and colleagues committed to advancing transplantation and patient care. 1. Develop strategies to incorporate pre-transplant frailty and nutritional interventions into clinical workflows.
2. Identify high-risk MASLD patients and develop personalized care plans to prevent disease progression and optimize transplant outcomes.
3. Utilize tumor board methodologies to enhance personalized treatment planning for pre- and post-transplant HCC patients.
4. Improve decision-making in complex cases of portal hypertension using evidence-based frameworks.
5. Implement evidence-based therapies for alcohol use disorder in patients with liver disease, addressing psychosocial factors and relapse prevention.
6. Summarize advancements in antiviral therapies for Hepatitis B and C, including strategies for managing resistance and co-infections.

Advance Practice Registered Nurses and Registered Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.

California Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA category 1 Credit^TM. If you are a pharmacist in another state, you should check with your state board for approval of this credit.

California Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts for continuing education credit courses that are provided by entities approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM is acceptable to meeting the CE requirements for the California Board of Psychology. Providers in other states should check with their state boards for acceptance of CME credit.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing at least 30 days before the conference start date will receive a refund of registration fees minus a [10%] administrative fee. Requests received between 30 days and 14 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the start date. Please send cancellation requests through our Refund Request form.
 
UCSF Office of CME reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred, such as non-refundable airline tickets, hotel penalties, or other related personal expenses.

Payment Deadline & Late Fee Policy

Exhibitor payment is due in full by the deadline listed on program materials (webpage and exhibitor agreement form). A $500 late fee will apply to any payments received after the posted deadline. 

To avoid a late fee and ensure participation, proof of payment (such as a check copy, electronic payment confirmation, or remittance advice) must be submitted by the deadline.

Cancellation Policy

There are no refunds for cancellations of exhibit registrations.
